Summary of the decision
The UAE Government issued a Federal Decree-Law amending provisions on qisas (retribution) and on inciting or assisting suicide. Clause (3) of Article (384) now sets imprisonment of not less than 15 and not more than 20 years where the victim's heirs waive qisas. Attempted suicide is no longer punishable.
